The 1st International Scientific Forum "Rock Art in the Context of Central Asia’s Cultural Heritage"

On May 5, 2025, the Tanbaly State Historical, Cultural, and Natural Museum-Reserve, with the support of the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology, organized and held the First International Scientific Forum titled "Rock Art in the Context of Central Asia’s Cultural Heritage."
The forum was conducted in a hybrid format — both online and offline.
The event brought together rock art researchers and leading experts in the fields of archaeology, ethnology, and history from Iran, China, and Mongolia. During the sessions, participants discussed the chronology, stylistic features, and thematic aspects of rock imagery. Roundtable discussions focused on interpretation methods and research approaches.
As part of the forum, the museum-reserve presented a “Visitor Guide” developed for the general public. This publication was introduced as an important tool aimed at expanding scientific and educational work on rock art.
At the conclusion of the forum, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology and the Tanbaly Museum-Reserve, outlining joint scientific research, fieldwork, and academic collaboration.
