Reserve museum «Tanbaly»
Sensational archaeological find.
During excavations in the Kogaly Valley conducted by the International Historical and Archaeological Expedition of the Tanbaly Museum-Reserve, a very rare type of coin was discovered for the first time in Kazakhstan.
According to specialists in Turkic-Sogdian early medieval numismatics, this type of coin has been used since the middle of the 7th century.
Consequently, it is assumed that the monuments of the Kogaly Valley, studied by the expedition of the museum-reserve, can be attributed to the culture of the Western Turks who inhabited the lands of Semirechye in the 7th - first half of the 8th century.
Archaeological excavations are still ongoing.
