The international photo exhibition "Tanbaly: Heritage in time and space" took place

      On October 3, 2024, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the inclusion of the archaeological landscape "Tanbaly" in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the international photo exhibition "Tanbaly: Heritage in Time and Space" was held at the Historical and Art Reserve-Museum of the Republic of Azerbaijan "Gobustan".                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The international exhibition was attended by specialists of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture and the National Academy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and heads of 12 protected museums of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The exhibition featured rock carvings of the Tanbaly Museum-Reserve, covering the Middle Ages, starting from the Bronze Age.                                               Within the framework of the exhibition, a scientific conference "Rock paintings are the heritage of all mankind" was organized. At the conference, Director of the Gobustan Isaev Museum-Reserve Vugar Urfat oglu and Director of the Tanbaly Museum-Reserve Bibigul Dandygaraeva noted that during the visit, such important events as the exchange of experience and the intensification of scientific work will be discussed under the memorandum of cooperation between the two organizations. Following the results of the exhibition and conference, the exhibition catalog will be published this year.                                                                                                                                           More than a hundred monuments of different times are protected in the open air on the territory of the Tanbaly tract -settlements, graves, early stone sites, more than 5,000 rock carvings and places of worship (sacrifices), covering the period from the Bronze Age to the middle of the XIV-XIII centuries to the XIX-XX centuries, while preserving their historical value. All of them have been forming an archaeological complex for three thousand years, which clearly reflects the history of many early and modern peoples of our country.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  On the basis of a memorandum of mutual cooperation between the State Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve "Tanbaly" and the National Historical and Art Reserve "Gobustan", specialists of the museum-reserve exchange experience in the protection and preservation of historical monuments, museum business, historical research, conservation and restoration work.
